I don’t know how to cook AT ALL. Can I still take the class?
I’ve taught lessons to folks who have never turned on their stove. Yes I can help you and I promise after only one class you will be able to feed yourself something besides take-out or frozen meals.
My kitchen is small and I don’t have much equipment. Can you still teach a class here?
If you have at least a medium sized chopping board (14 by 8 inches) and room to put it down, you have space. The only equipment I expect you to have are a chopping board, a large knife, a pot big enough to boil water in, a pan to sauté things in and a blender, if you choose to make the pureed soup lesson. I list any extra equipment I think you will need for individual lessons when you choose them, but there is nothing expensive or extraneous. If you want to invite friends to participate in the lesson, there should be room for everyone to get in the kitchen, even if everyone cannot chop or cook at the same time.
How many classes will it take for me to learn to cook?
After one class, you will have learned two basic recipes, which can turn into dozens of different dishes. To me, that counts as learning to cook. However, I have put together a series of 3 classes (six lessons) that cover enough basic concepts so that after taking them, you should feel comfortable venturing out on your own to experiment with new recipes or cooking concepts. If you take every class, you should count yourself a proficient, knowledgeable cook.
What is the maximum amount of people allowed per class?
In order to ensure that everyone learns to cook in a hands-on environment, I usually recommend no more than 8 participants in a single class. If you have a party of more than 8, please contact me directly to arrange a special course.
Do you offer discounts for booking multiple classes?
Yes! Purchase 3 or more classes and receive a 20% discount on the total package.
